M.V. Slipenchuk, Head of METROPOL Group of companies takes part in "The DRC as an Attractive Investment" round table, timed to coincide with the visit to Russia by DRC Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexis T. Muamba

On April, 6 of 2009, within the framework of a working visit paid by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo Alexis T. Muamba to Russia, a round table was held under the title "The DRC as an Attractive Investment", dedicated to opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries. The organizers of the event were the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and IFC METROPOL.
The event was attended by top managers from a number of major Russian companies, including VTB, RusAl, RosSpetsSplav, ESN Group, Inter RAO UES, Zarubezhvodstroi and KAMAZ.
The meeting participants heard speeches by G.G. Petrov, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M.V. Slipenchuk, Head of METROPOL Group of companies, Alexis T. Muamba, DRC Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other Russian business representatives and Congolese officials.
The round table featured discussion of the prospects of mutually beneficial Russian-Congolese cooperation, specific investment projects in various fields of economy and, in particular, mining, banking and hydro-energy.
Mr. Muamba expressed satisfaction with the results of the exchange of opinions and stressed that the meeting would serve as an important starting point in improving economic, cultural and other links between the two countries.
