METROPOL Group sponsored IX International Youth Athletic Wrestling Festival devoted to the sixty eight anniversary of the crushing defeat of German fascist army near Moscow

IX International Youth Athletic Wrestling Festival devoted to the sixty eight anniversary of the crushing defeat of German fascist army near Moscow was held on December, 4-6 at the Luzhniki sports palace. Expansion teams from regions of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Belorussia with young sportsmen born in 1993-1995 participated in the competitions. The Festival was really unique and spectacular as contests in seven types of athletic wrestling and combats such as Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, belts wrestling, sambo, judo, jiu-jitsu, and Kyokushin-kan Karate-do, were held simultaneously on seven mats.
International Youth Athletic Wrestling Festival is a very important event in the sports life of Russia. It has been held since 2001 on the initiative of the Plenipotentiary of President of the Russian Federation in the central federal district, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Festival Georgiy Poltavchenko. Co-chairman of the Organizing Committee is the mayor of Moscow Yuriy Luzhkov. It is a tradition that sport stars, politicians and businessmen come to root for the young sportsmen.
