The Mining Bank Of Congo supports the development of kyokushin-kan karate-do in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An international training workshop on the kyokushin-kan
karate-do was arranged and conducted with the participation and
sponsorship by the Mining Bank of Congo on July 15-17, 2011 in
Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was held
by Shihan Hennie Bosman, Chairman of the African Federation of
Kyokushin-Kan Karate-Do (South Africa), a world champion and a 7th
Dan Black Belt holder.
Apart from a large number of children who are just discovering
the sport, a total of 87 athletes went in for the workshop, 76 of
those being from Kinshasa and 3 persons from nearby provinces of
the DRC (the Democratic Republic of Congo), as well as 11 athletes
from the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville).
An intensive training on the basic and striking technique, kata
and refereeing of both experienced athletes and children was
conducted during two days under preparative activities for the
First National Championship on Kyokushin-Kan Karate-Do, which is
scheduled for September 2011 at the central stadium in
Kinshasa.
The event got a lot of publicity in the national media. After the
press conference arranged by the Mining Bank of Congo and the
Congolese Federation of Kyokushin-Kan karate-Do, participants were
presented with certificates.
