METROPOL Group Took Part in the Russian-Japanese Economic Forum
20-21 November 2012, the First Deputy Prime Minister I. I.
Shuvalov was on official visit to Tokyo. The Russian-Japanese
Economic Forum organized by Russian-Japanese and Japanese-Russian
Committees on economic cooperation, Russian Union of Industrialists
and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), National Committee for the Development of
Economic Relationship with Japan (NC DERJ), METROPOL Group of
Companies and Japanese Federation of Economic Organizations
Keidanren became an important event within the program of the
official visit.
The Forum is to intensify the efforts of business communities
and governments in seeking for new mutually beneficial investment
projects. Round table talks at the Forum were addressed to
energetic, mining and ecological aspects. The logistics and
transportation were also the matters under discussion. In
particular, I. A. Okhtyrsky, CEO at MBC Corporation, which belongs
to the Metropol Group of Companies, reported about the company’s
activities and Russian-Japanese cooperation prospects concerning
complex deposits in the Republic of Buryatia.
The Forum also gave floor to the First Deputy Prime Minister I.
I. Shuvalov, the President of RSPP A. N. Shokhin, and also Russian
governors and CEOs of Russian and Japanese businesses. Russia was
represented at the Forum by people from Khabarovsk Territory;
Republic of Buryatia; Irkutsk, Tula and Yaroslavl regions; and such
companies as VTB, AVTOVAZ, Renova, RUSNANO et alias. Japanese party
was represented by CEOs of major Japanese corporations and banks,
such as Nippon Steel, Isuzu Motor, Komatsu, Marubeni, Asahi Glass,
Sumitomo, Juki, Mitsui Japan Oil Gas and Metals, Tokyo Gas,
Toshiba, Nissin, Japan Airlines, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, The Bank of
Tokyo Mitsubishi et alias. Altogether, the event witnessed
participation of some 300 people. Upon completion of the Forum, the
Memorandum of XIII joint Session of Russian-Japanese and
Japanese-Russian Committees on Economic Cooperation was signed.
